PRESENTATION
A special experiment that consists of transcribing as accurately as possible the live performance of Yes's And You And I, asking the voices of the Neue Vocalsolisten to transform themselves into electric guitars, drums, synthesizers, etc., to celebrate the marriage of Christine Fischer and Rainer Pöllmann.
A vocal caprice, an acoustic photograph, a trompe-l'oreille to give the fantastic vocal ensemble the opportunity to perform one of the most beautiful love songs ever written.
I tried to transcribe for voice the subliminal instrumental glissandi, the micro-variations in intonation and the special timbral effects of Yes' original live performance.
Thanks to the collaboration with the Neue Vocalsolisten of the time, Sarah, Truike, Daniel, Guillermo and Andreas, the transcription achieved verisimilitude and consistency in the direction of Yes' refined progressive rock stylistic research.
And You And I
From the Album Close to the Edge (1972)
A man conceived a moment's answers to the dream.
Staying the flowers daily, sensing all the themes.
As a foundation left to create the spiral aim,
A movement regained and regarded both the same,
All complete in the sight of seeds of life with you.
Changed only for a sight of sound, the space agreed.
Between the picture of time behind the face of need,
Coming quickly to terms of all expression laid,
Emotion revealed as the ocean maid,
All complete in the sight of seeds of life with you.
Oh.
Coins and crosses never know their fruitless worth;
Turn round tailor, assaulting all the mornings of the interest shown
presenting one another to the cord,
Cords are broken, Locked inside the mother earth.
all left dying, rediscovered of the door that turned round,
to close the cover, all the interest shown,
They won't hide, hold, they won't tell you,
Watching the world, watching all of the world,
Watching us go by.
to turn one another, to the sign at the time float your climb.
And you and I climb over the sea to the valley,
And you and I reached out for reasons to call.
