1 - EXPERIMENTAL MUSIC THEATRE
New project of music theatre for solo voice and percussion trio or solo instrument and percussion trio, with or without electronics (from 30' to 45')
Description:
The workshop is dedicated to young composers interested in writing a music theatre experimental new project. Proposals can include one solo voice or instrument, trio of percussion and live electronics, amplification or tape production.
Any special requirements must be discussed with the artistic director in advance.
The percussion ensemble Ars Ludi will perform the new composition within the Biennale Musica (14-25 September 2022) as world premiere. The new work will be presented in concert form. The selected project should last approximately 30-45 minutes.
The workshop will consist of different stages.
The first stage will be dedicated to the conception of the work, the instrumental dramaturgy and the experimentation of different instrumental techniques. Classes will also focus on traditional and recent music theatre projects, their specific notation and the electronic treatment.
The composition of the first draft of the new piece will be followed by the second stage of the workshop, which will be concerned with the evaluation of the compositional ideas and their performability.
If electronic treatment or amplification were needed, dedicated sessions will be organized in the CIMM Studios (La Biennale di Venezia Centre for Computer Music and Multimedia).
The Biennale College Musica team will be in contact with the selected composer throughout the whole process of composition (from March to September 2022) and will be available for suggestions and revisions of the new score.

2 -SITE-SPECIFIC SOUND INSTALLATION
New project of site-specific sound installation
Description:
The workshop is dedicated to young composers interested in site-specific sound installations for one of the selected Venetian sites proposed by the Biennale Musica.
The new sound-installation will be presented within the Biennale Musica (14-25 September 2022) in a space which will be proposed according to the selected project.
The selected composer will get the opportunity to create his/her world premiere in different stages, which will be aimed at the conception of the project and its production and realization in the frame of the Biennale Musica 2022.

3 -RADIO PLAY
New project of Radio Play for the Italian Rai Radio Tre inspired by "Sounds of Venice" by John Cage (1959)

Description:
The workshop is dedicated to young composers interested in Radio Opera and Radio Play.
The new work by the selected composer will be presented within the Biennale Musica (14-25 September 2022) and broadcasted live by the Italian Radio Channel, Rai Radio Tre.
The selected composer can choose the dramaturge or librettist for the new project and will get the opportunity to create his/her world premiere in different stages:
The first stage will be aimed at the conception of the project; afterward the selected composer will be given the possibility to work in the CIMM Studios (La Biennale di Venezia Centre for Computer Music and Multimedia) and record the sound material in the city of Venice; final stages will focus on the production of the new project.

Two new projects of experimental performance with dramaturgical intentions
Description: The workshop is dedicated to young experimental performers
DJs/turntablists/controllerists/beatmakers and live electronics performers interested in the theatrical aspects of the performance.
The selected performers will have the opportunity to realize an experimental performance within the Biennale Musica (14-25 September 2022).
The workshop will consist of four different stages:
The first stage will be focused on the conception of the project, while the second will be focused on the work in the CIMM Studios (La Biennale di Venezia Centre for Computer Music and Multimedia); third and fourth stage will be dedicated to the rehearsals and production of the new project.
The Biennale College Musica team will be in contact with each performer throughout the whole process of composition (from March to September 2022) and will be available for suggestions and revisions.

PERFORMERS
2-PERFORMANCE OF WORKS BY GEORGES APERGHIS WITH THEATRICAL FEATURES
Description:
The workshop is dedicated to young sopranos, clarinettists, harpists and percussionists interested in the chamber music repertoire of theatrical pieces created by Georges Aperghis.
The selected performers will present their interpretations within the Biennale Musica (14-25 September 2022).
The workshop will consist of different stages. During the stages of the workshops the participants will learn techniques connected to music theatre performance, the use and control of their voices and performative movements.
The first stage will be focused on the analysis of the different scores by Aperghis to be performed and the practice of the different performative aspects. Following stages will be dedicated to the rehearsals and production of the concert.
The Biennale College Musica team will be in contact with each performer throughout the whole process of creation of the concert (from March to September 2022) and will be available for suggestions and revisions.
