PRESENTATION
Knock is the result of an eight-year collaboration between Irwin and Puckette, and its premiere is their first live performance since the onset of Covid-19. Although the two share a stage, they are connected using network technology that has allowed them to work together remotely to develop the piece. The musical work is inseparable from the novel software-hardware hybrid instruments, called knockers, that they have developed and learned to play collaboratively.
