For the 66. Festival Internazionale di Musica Contemporanea della Biennale di Venezia I imagine to create a hybrid sound work which is both anchored in real and virtual space. In this site specific piece the audience moves with open build headphones through the installation, listening to virtual sounds that are – in the manner of an augmented reality application – anchored in real space and behave according to the listener’s position and orientation. At the same time these virtual sounds are blending with the sites real acoustic environment, subtly altered by hidden speakers. The room will be filled with different shapes, borders and walls of projected light. If the audience enters one of these shapes, they will be immersed in the shapes related virtual sonic world. Through the use of precise tracking technology I am able to think about sound as a material that can be physically shaped in space. Therefore it is possible to create different precisely confined coexisting and overlapping sonic realities, that can be discovered by the audience and drastically change their auditory perception. Through the interference between the real and the virtual sounds an interesting dialogue expands between personal and collective experiences inside the piece.
